Leonardo has been suggested as ADHD, on the evidence of his famous lack of discipline. If that is true, then a little procrastination is not such a bad thing after all. The artwork makes the case gently rather than loudly: a Renaissance scene, crowned and reframed, old pigment and gold in a composition that refuses to sit still.
Fold it, and the painting reassembles itself somewhere new.
